Q Hello ! By taking this class, it means that you have an interest in Anthropology. Maybe you know a lot about anthropology, maybe you know nothing at all! Anthropology is a discipline that tends to attract people with a fundamental curiosity about the world, how other people do things, and why. In my personal experience anthropologists often come to study the subject in many round-about ways. Something in their lives makes them take notice and realize that the world and the social systems that we live in are complicated. First, I would like you to tell me some basics about yourselves. In a brief post, let me know what you think anthropology is about, or what kinds of things do you think anthropologists study (there really is no wrong answer to this question), What you hope to get out of this course and why do you want to take it (aside from needing the credit, we all know you need credits, but you could have taken other courses). Finally, tell us a little about yourself. i.e. What is something interesting that you do? Where have you traveled? What are your hobbies? What is something that you think is unique to your family or life experiences? Have you had a job that most people have not? etc... Why am I asking you to do this? For one I need to make sure that all of you are accessing the course. However, another and more important reason is that as anthropologists you will have to talk about yourself. Anthropologists are often confronted with cultural situations, systems, or experiences that they may have only peripheral knowledge of, so it is an important skill to be able to dig into your own life experiences and to relate to these situations, systems, and people. Being able to talk about yourself in a relatable way is an important skill!

My name is #### and I am taking this course to fulfill my GE requirement. However, I am honestly interested in Archeology and Anthropology, so I would like to learn more about this subject. My major is Biology and I expect to transfer after my AA/AS degree. My favorite vacation would be Europe because its architecture is ancient and mysterious. I am currently not working because I spend most of my time studying and practicing.
